🐝 Hivee — Privacy Policy

Hivee ("the app") is built by Amped Apps. This policy explains what information Hivee collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: your beekeeping data lives on your phone first, backs up to your private cloud account second, and is never sold.

Information stored on your device

Your hives, inspection records, photos, notes, preferences (name, experience level, apiary ZIP code), and reminder settings are stored locally on your device. The app works fully offline.

Information stored in the cloud

If you sign in (Sign in with Apple), your hives, inspections, compressed photos, and profile details (first name, apiary ZIP code, experience level, hive count range, and the email address associated with your Apple ID sign-in) are backed up to your private account on Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), hosted in the United States. This data is readable only by your account and by Amped Apps for operating and improving the service. It is never sold or shared with advertisers.

Location

With your permission, Hivee uses your device location to show local weather (via Apple's WeatherKit) and to attach weather conditions to inspection records. Location is used on-device for these requests and is not stored on our servers. Your apiary ZIP code, which you may optionally type in, is stored with your profile as described above.

Ask Hivee (AI assistant)

When you use Ask Hivee, your question, recent conversation, and a summary of your apiary (hive names, statuses, recent inspection findings, weather, ZIP code, experience level) are sent to our server and forwarded to Anthropic (our AI provider) to generate an answer. Anthropic processes this data to provide the response. Do not include sensitive personal information in your questions. We count your monthly questions to operate the free tier.

Notifications

Inspection reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not send marketing push notifications.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate app usage (for example, which features are used). This data is not used to identify you personally.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all cloud data anytime in the app: Profile → Delete Account. Data stored locally on your device is removed by deleting the app. You may also contact us for deletion requests.

Children

Hivee is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and note it in the app.
